I like Disney. They have made so great movies like Up, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mulan, Monster Inc. The list can go on forever. It is just great entertainment, but I have encountered a problem. It started today. I sat down doing my homework and landed myself on the Disney Channel and saw that a movie was about to begin. I thought great, Disney movies are usually pretty decent. This one was, but due to my frustration and current state of mind I just kind of wanted to cry, or throw something, or both simultaneously. Here is why.
[Caution: Spoiler Alert]
A large majority of Disney movies have a common story line. There is a boy. There is a girl. Usually one is famous in some way, whether he is a celebrity or a prince it is all the same and one is not. Boy meets girl, usually accidently. Girl falls in love with boy. Boy falls in love with girl. Happiness. Then some sort of conflict, boy secretly can't be with girl, girl dies temporarily, there is a dragon, you get my drift. Then comes the sadness Disney drags you in making you want a happily ever after... and it happens. Boy apologizes (girls don't do that), they kiss. Happily ever after. The End. YAY!
Happy right? Such a good little story. Everything works out in the end. Unfortunately Disney isn't really realistic, so people like me watch these adorable movies and then just get oh so sad because they know this will never happen. It is depressing. So Disney should do some rewriting.
There is a boy. There is a girl. Girl meets boy. Boy meets girl. Girl really likes boy. Boy is a boy. Girl tries to fight her way through all the other girls to the boy's heart. Girl fails epically. Girl is devastated. Not happily ever after. The End.
Yea, and being an adult isn't all that it was cracked up to be when eight year old. Such is life. Some people just don't understand what they are missing.
