I've have now officially run in the first ever Jerusalem International Marathon and my first ever race. It was quite the experience.
Firstly, Jerusalem shut down and as a consequence we couldn't take a taxi. Seeing that there was a bus bombing just a few days before we thought we weren't allowed to ride the buses either, so we walked.... 3 miles. Yup that's right I walked three miles to run 6 miles to walk 3 miles back home.
Secondly, it was the day after we got home from Galilee which was tiring enough but I also was sick as well. I'm officially insane for running.
Thirdly, I somehow managed to get myself on the wrong side of the fence running in to the finish line. It was embarrassing. There was a little planter going into the finish line and it seems that it would be logical that both the left side and the right side would lead to the same spot. I was wrong. I picked the right lane and ran past all the backs of the people cheering on the runners. So I had to sneakily go through the gate so that I could actually run through the finish line. [P.S] The picture of me at the finish line was taken before the start of the race. I did not run in a jacket.
Fourth, I got a medal. My life is complete now.
Fifthly, I have now added to my just started bucket list to run a legit half-marathon, and if I'm really crazy maybe a marathon, but most definitely I will run another 10K. There are so fun.
