Hola familia,
Time serioulsy flies so fast here. It is insane! Today is my last full p-day because next week is in-field orientation and then we have half a p-day to do laundry and go to the temple on saturday. 11 more days. I have miixed feelings. I love the MTC. It has been such a blessing. It is a safe place where I can learn the most, and make mistakes and it is okay. It is still hard but it is a good preparation for the field I think. So I am thankful, but at the same time I am so excited to be going to Chile to teach the people of Chile. I have mized feelings about being ready too, I know enough. Yes of course I can always improve in things but with the spirit and the fundamentals I think I am ready enough. Anywho a lot happened this week so this portion will be swift.
I love hearing all your experiences and about all your lifes! You know you are a missionary when people telling you that they went to the temple or finished 2 nephi are the things that make me smile the most. Oh and missionary experiences. Yes corney, I know. Anywho Dad asked if the gospel is still true. I'm happy to report that it is. Always has been always will be! And it is great! I got you package as well dad and I loved it. And my teacher loved it as well. She loves cookies and says gracias. :)
Now on to things that happened this week. First and foremost. I GOT MY TRAVEL PLANS.
I will be flying to Chile 11 september at 12:50. I leave the MTC at 8am. I fly through atlanta and Aurelie I am happy to report that I am flying Delta directly there! Sad news for me probably not flying first class. Take note you might need this in 16 months. I arrive in Santiago September 12th at 9am. I am thankful that we are flying through the night so I might actually be able to sleep instead of talking to people the whole flight. I think it is something about 12 hours. Long. I long to sleep on the plane. Anywho I pretty excited to be going. Nervous but so excited. I can't believe that it is almost here. Crazy! So mom and dad I don't what airport I will call you in but look out and if anyone else would like to hear my beautiful voice send me your phone number, but I can't promise anything and mom and dad are the priority.
Second I got to host this week! Awesome! It was super fun. I liked it a lot. But better than that My companionship was one of 8 to demonstrate to the new missionaries how to begin teaching. It was surreal to me because the first night here I did the exact same thing. Watched missionaries begin to teach and then I was was one of those missionaries. Full circle. It was a really cool experience. If there was one word that describes missionary work it is love and charity. That is our purpose. To invite people to come unto christ to feel of his love. We watch the bible video the good samaritan. And missionaries are those good samaritans. We find those who are hurt and broken and need help, we pick them up and take them to the Savior to be healed. It is an amazing analogy.
This week was a spanish fast... for the whole week. It has been great. During the new missionary thing we had to teach in english. Weirdest experience of my life. I prayed in english, actually in my mind i prayed in spanish and tanslated to english. Weird. But great. It makes me happy that I can talk all day in spansh, still nervous for chile but it will be okay.
My new favorite thing to do during gym is play 4 square. Some of you might be thinking, emily this is not working out (Aurelie) but let me tell you, when you play with 19 year old elders it is a work out! And also super fun. Also on a happy and sad note, sad note football season started without me, happy note i have earplugs so I don't have to sad about this because I can't hear them. Still a little sad but that's okay. I am with my cougars in spirit. We had Elder Anthony Perkins from the seventy come this tuesday. I love his wife. She talked a lot about love and how we need love in order to be successful missionaries. Also in random news I have restarted the book of mormon, with one purpose in mind, to learn about the character of Christ. It has been a really fun experience. My book of mormon I am reading from is very very purple.
Anywho not much else going on. Thanks for all the support. I love you all! If you want to send me anything I would do it before wednesday or thursday for me to get it, or else send it to my mission! The church is true!
